Absentee Ballots

Longboat Key voters who are unable to go to the polls to vote have two options for casting a ballot in the Town election:

1. REQUEST THAT AN ABSENTEE BALLOT BE MAILED TO YOU.

Voters living in the Manatee County portion of Longboat Key may write or call:

Only  absentee ballots returned and received by 7:00 PM on the date of the election can  be included in the count.

2. VOTE AN ABSENTEE BALLOT IN THE COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS OFFICE IN THE COUNTY IN  WHICH YOU RESIDE.

Manatee  County:  305 15^th Street West, Bradenton
Sarasota County:   101 South Washington Boulevard, Sarasota

Absentee ballots may be voted prior to the election at the County Offices, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM.  Please bring with you a photo ID and your voter identification card.

NOTE: No absentee ballots are available for absentee voting at the Longboat Key Town Clerk’s Office.

Voter Registration

The Florida Voter Registration Application Form is available in the Office of the Town Clerk at Town Hall.

This form may be used to: Register to vote in the State of Florida Change your political party Replace a defaced, lost or stolen Voter Identification Card Change your name or address

There is a portion on the back of your Voter Identification Card for you to change your address, if you move to an address within the same county; since the Town of Longboat Key is located in two counties (Manatee County and Sarasota County) if you move on Longboat Key from one County to the other within the Town, a new Registration Application Form must be completed and submitted.

To Register to you must:

• be a U.S. citizen

• be a Florida resident

• be 18 years old (you may pre-register if you are 17)

• not now be adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other state

• not have been convicted of a felony without your civil rights having been restored pursuant to law

• not claim the right to vote in any other county or state.
