Welcome to the Town of Longboat Key’s Fire Rescue Department Page.  The Longboat Key Fire Rescue department is comprised of 33 line personnel divided into three shifts and supported by four (4) management/administrative personnel. Each of the three shifts consists of one Deputy Chief, two Lieutenants and seven firefighter/medics.  Our mission is to protect life and property by providing high quality efficient and effective emergency response operations, fire prevention and inspection service and fire and life safety education.  To help accomplish the vision of the Town Manager, we have set out to become the best trained Fire Rescue Department in the State of Florida.  We are also striving to become the best provider of quality Fire/Advanced Life Support (ALS) Emergency Medical Services within the region.

Knowing that the Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs are held to a higher standard of conduct, the members of Longboat Key Fire Rescue shall strive to uphold the highest ethical ideals.  We shall take an active role in maintaining a professional image of the fire service through promptness, efficiency and dedication to duty.  We shall serve the public truthfully with courtesy and respect, providing assistance whenever our skills and talents are needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where and when can I get my blood pressure checked ?

Blood pressure screening is available at either our North or South Fire station
between the hours of  9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. daily.

Where do I call to get CPR classes ?

Contact the CPR Coordinator, Jorge Alvarez at 773-5792 for CPR training information.

How can I get a copy of a fire or rescue report?

Place your request in writing, if possible, and send to the attention of the Records Custodian at our administrative address listed above.  Medical reports, by law, are confidential records and cannot be released without express written consent of the patient or by a court subpoena.  Requests for medical reports, therefore, must include an executed patient release form.

Who do I call about a fire extinguisher that doesn’t work or needs to be inspected?

Check the Yellow Pages under Fire Extinguishers.   Small extinguishers for household use (5 pounds or less) are not rechargeable and can be purchased at any major retail store.

I was sent a bill for ambulance transport.  Who do I call to notify of my insurance information or ask questions about this bill?

To provide your insurance information, contact the Town of Longboat Key Finance Department at 316-1999 and ask for ambulance billing.
