NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS

SWIMMING POOLS, SPAS & SIMILAR INSTALLATIONS
PERMIT APPLICATION CHANGES AS OF 1/28/07


Permit applications submitted as of January 28, 2007 for pools, spas and similar installations will b required to provide a detail of how the installation will be in compliance for Equipotential Bonding required by the 2005 National Electrical Code Chapter 680.26 -- Swimming Pools, Spas and Similar Installations.

 

The NEC 680.26 requires, in part:  The equipotential bonding grid shall cover the contour of the pool and the pool deck extending 1 m (3ft.) horizontally from the inside walls of the pool.  The equipotential bonding grid shall be arranged in a 300 mm (12 in.) by 300 mm (12 in.) network of conductors in a uniformly spaced perpendicular grid pattern with tolerance of 100 mm (4 in.)  Refer to the NEC for further information.
