Hurricane Hermine Update – September 1, 2016
Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel this afternoon and tonight as Hurricane Hermine’s effects are felt in Manatee and Sarasota Counties.
Sarasota and Manatee County Emergency Management Officials are encouraging people to be off the roads and avoid unnecessary travel this evening and tonight as the strongest wind and rains from Hurricane Hermine arrive after sundown.
Most of the heavy storm activity will occur during the night. The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting up to 6 inches of rain will fall tonight, and winds of 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are possible.
NWS extended its Tropical Storm Warning South to Manatee and Sarasota Counties earlier today.
Due to localized flooding on some Longboat Key streets, Waste Management was not able to access all homes for garbage collection. Residents are asked to move their garbage carts inside. Waste Management will attempt collection Friday, weather permitting, or on the next service date, Tuesday, September 6th.

St Jude’s Drive
St Jude’s Drive North
St Jude’s Drive South
Gulf Bay Road
Jungle Queen
Tarawitt, and
Companion Way
