Recycling is mandatory on Longboat Key. Residents recycle paper in blue recycling bins; and commingled recyclables such as glass, metals, and plastics (recycle logos 1 - 7) in red recycling bins.
Residential recycling is collected on Monday and should be placed at the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. Condominiums and commercial businesses contract directly with their waste hauler for their recycling needs.
Sometimes recyclables are not picked up due to some items being placed in the recycle bin that are not recyclable such as plastic bags, corrugated cardboard or fluorescent light bulbs. Please assist in our recycling program by following the recycle guide below.

Please make sure all items are rinsed out properly.

Recycle your batteries at the county collection facilities or at local retail stores. Alkaline batteries may be placed in your garbage.
