FDOT Public Hearing Scheduled for S.R. 789 (Longboat Key) PD&E Study

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate and share their input on this important corridor study.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites the public to participate in an upcoming hearing for the State Road (S.R.) 789 (Longboat Key) Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study, covering the corridor from North Shore Road to the Coquina Park Entrance in Manatee County.

Community members may attend in person or virtually.

In-Person Hearing

Thursday, March 12, 2026
Christ Church of Longboat Key
6400 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key

• 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. : Open house and project displays
• 6:00 p.m. : Formal presentation and public comment

Project team members will be available during the open house to answer questions.

Virtual Hearing

Tuesday, March 17, 2026

• 5:30 p.m. — Project team available for discussion
• 5:45 p.m. — Instructions for submitting comments
• 6:00 p.m. — Formal presentation and public comment

Public Comment & Document Access

Project documents will be available for public review from February 18 through March 23, 2026, at:

• FDOT Manatee Operations Center, Bradenton (14000 FL-64, Bradenton, FL 34212)
• Online via the project webpage

Comments may be submitted online, by email, or by mail and must be received or postmarked by March 23, 2026, to become part of the formal hearing record. All comments are given equal consideration.

Additional Information

The proposed improvements are adjacent to Coquina Bayside Park/Boat Ramp and would impact approximately 0.23 acres of recreation area property. FDOT is seeking public input regarding these impacts as part of the federal review process.
