The Town of Longboat Key adopted their first Comprehensive Plan in 1978. The State of Florida requires municipal governments to evaluate their comprehensive plans at least once every seven (7) years (F.S. 163.3184).  The update must reflect changes in state requirements or a minimum planning period of at least 10 years. The Town's Comprehensive Plan was updated on June 6, 2022.
